Institutionalising public procurement in Nigeria

Bureau of Public Procurement

Leadership in implementing Nigeria's Public Procurement Act 2007 and embedding procurement as a recognised profession across the federal government.

The challenge

A national procurement system had to be stood up, professionalised and trusted, across every arm of the federal government.

Our approach

Drove implementation of the Procurement Act, professional capacity-building, and the systems and standards that made procurement a discipline.

Outcomes

  • Over ₦738bn in documented savings in federal procurements (FY2009–FY2015)
  • Procurement established as a recognised profession
  • Foundations for transparent, accountable public spending
